In the Netherlands, since early 2016, is obligated to report data breaches when personal data is (likely to be) involved. Organisation must report these incidents to the Dutch Data Privacy Authority. Sometimes also the affected persons must be informed. In 2016, 5.500 data breaches were reported.
In case of a data breach and other security incidents is important to quickly assess the cause of the incident, the possible effect(s) and short- and long-term measures to prevent the damage as much as possible. The Incident Response service of ITsec offers a solution.
ITsec supports organizations with handling security incidents. Organization can report security incidents to ITsec. ITsec gives technical and organizational advice how to handle the incident. ITsec performs additional technical analyses of, for example, the network traffic of malicious software. The response to an incident depends on the situation. After an intake, ITsec in consultation with you, drafts an action plan. The Incident Response service can be used ‘ad hoc’ of in the form of a subscription.

After each security incident, ITsec presents a report describing the security incident, the cause and effect, a chronological log of the work done (including any evidence), the result and recommendations.
